11.00 Last post and 2 minute silence with laying of wreaths to follow

After laying of wreaths there will be a march down Chapman street across Nicola Ave to Quilchena Ave to in front of the Legion.

Open House downstairs for adults and upstairs in hall there will be hot chocolate and hot dogs for children. Wreaths are still available--please stop in at the Legion or call.

Fred Penner Performance

We are pleased to announce that Fred Penner will be performing at the Merritt Civic Centre on Saturday October 7, 2017 for one matinee performance.

In celebration of Canada 150, the Nicola Valley Community Arts Council is pleased to announce that they will be bringing beloved Canadian Children’s Performer Fred Penner to the Merritt Civic Centre on Saturday, October 7th at 2pm. Tickets will be available online through the Arts Council website (tickets purchased through our CanadaHelps.org site) on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 and advanced prices are as follows: 4 & Under $5, 5-12 $10 and 13 and Up $15.

Tickets will go online August 15, 2017 through the Nicola Valley Arts Council website.

Crop Weekend

What is a crop you ask? It is the scrapbooking word for a weekend retreat. Vendors will offer spotlight classes on new product lines and techniques. The fee covers the full weekend, your own 8-foot table, snacks, coffee, tea and water. There will be gift bags on each table and chances to win door prizes. Come and go as you please. Our hours offer you the flexibility to spend time with your family and still come out scrapbooking guilt free. Friday times 5:00pm-1:00am , Saturday 9:00am-1:00am, Sunday 9:00am-4:00pm. Paint-in at Corbett Lake Lodge

The Nicola Valley Community Arts Council is working with Corbett Lake Lodge to present a series of Paint-in Activities. Corbett Lake Lodge is 15 minutes east of Merritt on, Hwy. 97C, Merritt, BC. Paint-Ins will consist of the following:
- Only 15 participants per day and the $25 fee which include lunch.
- Self-directed outdoor painting in this beautiful location (not a workshop)
- Dates are July 25, August 15 and August 29 at scenic Corbett Lake Lodge (photo attached)
- Events run from 10 am to 4 pm with luncheon served at noon in the dining room
Registration, for specific days or all three, is handled online from the NVCAC website - www.nicolavalleyartscouncil.com, scroll to the Coming Events and click on the Online Registration link and register through our CanadaHelps.org website.
“This is a great chance for local artists and others to paint together in a beautiful location. It is not a workshop, but whenever artists get together we automatically share ideas, tips, advice and compliments. I love that it comes with lunch in the Lodge, which is also a back-up painting location in case of weather issues.” Jean Kiegerl

Now in our 35th year, the NVCAC has provided an array of programs and activities for residents of Merritt and the Nicola Valley including the Art Walk, and the Courthouse Arts Gallery. Our Courthouse Arts Gallery is located at 1840 Nicola Ave and is open Thursday to Saturday noon – 6pm open extended hours in July for Art Walk are Wednesdays and Sundays10am-2pm.

Active Story Time- August

Choosy Marching with family

Tuesday, Aug. 8 – Active Story Time 

Each session is centered around a children’s story book followed with physical activities based on the storyline.

The activities encourage the development of movement skills, improvisation and creativity.

Happening every Tuesday evening throughout July and August 6:30pm-8:30pm. We encourage you to bring your own lawn chairs for seating.
