Forever West: A Lifestyle That Has Never Changed Over The Years
With Artist Faye Gustafson
Artist Faye Gustafson has moved to our Merritt community, with husband Ian Brooker, after several years of visiting and participating in our local arts programs, like the successful Art Walk. Faye’s work in sketches and oils is made for our western community, with venues like the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, the Museum, and Purity Feeds happy to host her art work. the Nicola Valley Arts Council is happy to welcome Faye and Ian to our community, and enjoy a full display of Faye’s artwork at the Gallery. Faye says, “By choosing subjects from life or my imagination, often a combination of both, I seek out the substance that often lays under the surface of my subjects. My goal is to expose the essence excitement, emotion and sometimes the pain that is daily life.” "The cowboy way of life has always appealed to my soul" says Gustafson. I love the endless stories of the people who lived way back when, and the excitement the modern cowgirls and cowboys still enjoy!" Gustafson has exhibited her work in Canada and United States, Japan and Australia, in private and community galleries, and holds several awards for her artwork.
Faye’s show begins Friday, May 17/19. The Reception for her show is Friday, May 24th, 4-7pm.
The Nicola Valley Arts Councilare happy to keep Faye’s show until June 22/19.
The Nicola Valley Arts Council is planning a sketching workshop with Faye while her show is on. Watch for the dates she will be at the Courthouse.
