Nicola Valley Film Society presents “LION”  Rated G on Monday, September 18th at 7:00 pm. at the NVIT LECTURE THEATRE.  Tickets are $5.00 at the Door and Memberships are $2:00 for the 6 films in the 2017/2018 season.  At this screening Season Tickets are available.  Parking is FREE and there is no food or drink allowed in the theatre.

“LION”  is based upon the true story “A Long Way Home” by Saroo Brierley.  Five year old Saroo gets lost on a train which takes him thousands of miles across India, away from home and family.  Saroo must learn to survive in Kolkata before ultimately being adopted by an Australian couple.  Twenty-five years later, armed only with a handful of memories, his unwavering determination and a revolutionary technology known as GoogleEarth, he sets out to find his lost family and finally return to his first home.

We are pleased to announce that Fred Penner will be performing at the Merritt Civic Centre on Saturday October 7, 2017 for one matinee performance.

In celebration of Canada 150, the Nicola Valley Community Arts Council is pleased to announce that they will be bringing beloved Canadian Children’s Performer Fred Penner to the Merritt Civic Centre on Saturday, October 7th at 2pm. Tickets will be available online through the Arts Council website (tickets purchased through our CanadaHelps.org site) on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 and advanced prices are as follows: 4 & Under $5, 5-12 $10 and 13 and Up $15.

Tickets will go online August 15, 2017 through the Nicola Valley Arts Council website.

“MAUDIE”  is based on the true story of Maud Dowley - an arthritic Nova Scotia woman who works as a housekeeper and who has an unlikely romance with the reclusive Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke).  Maudie bright eyed but hunched with crippled hands, yearns to be independent, to live away from her protective family  and she also yearns, passionately to create art.  Unexpectedly, Everett finds himself falling in love with Maudie as she hones her skills as an artist and eventually becomes a beloved figure in the community.
